The Salvation Army of Alameda County operates from the Garden Street Corps, in Oakland's Fruitvale district. The 4 Alameda county corps conduct their own community service programs as well as participate in larger, county-wide campaigns. The Corps of Alameda county include: Garden St., Oakland Chinatown, Hayward & Tri-Cities (Newark)

The Salvation Army is a nonprofit organization offering service in over 120 countries around the world, and in every zip code of the United States. Salvation Army Programs are led by Salvation Army Officers. These officers are responsible to lead by assessing needs, delivering programs, and directing ministries for our local community. From serving food to balancing the books, they function as the Executive Directors and the Pastors for The Salvation Army Alameda County.

Emergency Family Shelter Hours: 24 hours, everyday
Booth Child Development Daycare Center: 7:30am-3:30pm (Mon-Fri)
Family Box, Food Distribution program: Monday/Wednesday/Friday 11am-1pm *(No sign-up required)

The Salvation Army of Alameda County in conjunction with The Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. of Northern California, are proud to offer a FREE four-week, hands-on training program that provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the construction trades as a career path. Upon completion, students receive both OSHA 10 certification and Construction Training Card (such as Electrician in Training) and are ready to work. Each class has 10-12 students. Classes are held 2-3 times annually, with electrical work, carpentry, painting and plumbing, plus the job readiness skills needed to start a new career path, at a local Bay-area livable wage.
Participants of the class are individuals who are currently or have been recently involved in local addiction recovery program or homelessness prevention program, including the Oakland, San Francisco or San Jose Adult Rehabilitation Centers, other local recovery programs, participants of the Garden Street Family Center, or a walk-in client in one of four Salvation Army Family Services offices in Oakland, Hayward and Tri-Cities/Newark.
By the time the course has concluded, the graduates receive boots, tools and a tool belt. Program participants are assisted in finding employment through job fairs coordinated by ABC NorCal and hosted at our Oakland Chinatown Corps.

The Salvation Army of Alameda County offers a Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) Training Program, partnering with The Quest Nursing Education Center for a five week, on-line and live training program that provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the nursing industry and prepares them to take the Certified Nursing Assistant exam. Upon completion, students are invited to take the exam and are connected to potential employers. Each class has approximately 8 students. Classes are held twice annually and include the job readiness skills needed to start a new career path, at a local Bay-area livable wage.
Nursing Assistant Program Eligibility Requirements:
Must be at least 16 years of age

"As a CNA graduate, the experience has greatly increased my confidence and I received several opportunities for employment, one of which I did decide to take in the healthcare industry," said student Kyra Barker. Participants of the class are individuals who are currently or have been recently involved in local homeless or recovery-based programs, such as the Garden Street Family Center, or a walk-in clients in one of four Salvation Army Family Services offices in Oakland, Hayward and Tri-Cities/Newark. Graduates receive new shoes, scrubs, stethoscopes and other supplies. Program participants are assisted in finding employment through job fairs hosted at our Oakland Garden Street Corps.
Cost of Class: $1500 per student. Full scholarships are available. Students pay $25 Registration Fee.
