The Salvation Army of Alameda County Construction Apprentice Training Program

information and email contact form

The Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. of Northern California has partnered with us to offer a three-week, hands-on training program that provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the construction trades as a career path. Upon completion, students receive both OSHA 10 certification and Construction Training Card (such as Electrician in Training) and are ready to work. Our goal is to teach 10 students per quarter, or 30 students per year, with electrical work, carpentry, painting and plumbing, plus the job readiness skills needed to start a new career path, at a local Bay-area livable wage.

Participants of the class are individuals who are currently or have been recently involved in a local recovery based programs including the Oakland or San Francisco  Adult Rehabilitation Centers, other local recovery programs, participants of the Garden Street Family Center, or a walk-in client in one of four Salvation Army Family Services offices in Oakland, Hayward and Tri-Cities/Newark.

By the time the course has concluded, the graduates receive boots, tools and a tool belt. Program participants are assisted in finding employment through job fairs coordinated by ABC NorCal and hosted at our Oakland Chinatown Corps.

It is only through your support that we can continue providing meaningful programs that help lift people up of out the cycle of addiction and homelessness.

Cost of Class: $3000 per student, Registration Fee $25,
